Bourne is a collection and franchise of movies revolving around the main character Jason Bourne, who is an assassin who existed fictionally during the early 2000s. Jason Bourne is a skilful and talented assassin, hence having the expertise to assassinate targets without leaving a trace. However, even though he may seem threatening and dangerous, he still has a soft heart inside of him. The films and movies that are included in the franchise are all focused on the genre “thriller”, and of course, it gets exciting and dramatic.
A summary of the character, Jason Bourne, is that he began to work for the CIA in 1997, and he was sent on various missions and operations. One of the missions he was sent on is named “The Treadstone.” But, he unfortunately failed this mission. The mission describes that he was supposed to assassinate a person named Wombosi, but because Jason Bourne felt bad for Wombosi due to all the children he had, he attempted to abandon this mission, leading to him getting shot two times in the back by some unknown person while he was trying to leave, and further triggering his amnesia. After this, marks the official start of Jason Bourne’s legendary story and how he manoeuvres around obstacles that he faces.

The five movies of the franchise are “The Bourne Identity”, “The Bourne Supremacy”, “The Bourne Ultimatum”, “The Bourne Legacy” and lastly the finale, “Jason Bourne”. These five movies were originally inspired by the Jason Bourne Novels, which had many more different books (More than 10). Although the names and characters are all similar, the plot of the movie is independent and more interesting. However, the Jason Bourne movies do seemingly retain elements and factors that are taken from the book, and these elements do contribute to the different plot. Even though the plots in the novels may be less thrilling and exciting, I do suggest reading the novels nonetheless.
To start us off, let’s talk about the franchise. As mentioned before, the movie dives deep into the galaxies of espionage, diving deeply into the world of spying and assassinating. The movie stimulates the audience with its exciting and intricate plots and events, through Jason Bourne’s quest to unveil the truth.
But, throughout his quest, Jason Bourne is pursued by various agencies including mainly the Central Intelligence Agency. For example, at the start of the whole franchise, in the movie “The Bourne Identity”, Jason Bourne was on a quest to find out his real identity, due to him suffering from the effects of amnesia after his failed mission.
This beginning of the story already puts the audience in tension, as the onslaught on Jason Bourne is initiated. Moving on further into the franchise, we are introduced to the second movie, which is The Bourne Supremacy.
As Jason Bourne is hunted down by the Central Intelligence Agents sent by his former superiors, to eliminate everyone that participated in the Treadstone operation, and mainly to eliminate Jason Bourne because of his failure and how he decided to abandon the mission, Jason Bourne comes in contact with a lot more issues and obstacles.
I will not be spoiling the whole plot for you, there is much more to this story and you can find out yourself. Now I just want to talk and illustrate Jason Bourne the character. Jason Bourne is tough and doesn’t manifest a lot of emotions. He always keeps calm and thinks carefully about every step. He is also eager and motivated to find out his true identity, after (as said before), he lost his memory and is trying to repair it by regaining fragments and fragments of it. He is smart, he uses the surroundings to figure out what to do next and uses his incredible senses to locate and pinpoint the enemies. He is also obviously magnificent & extraordinary at close-range or long-range combat.
Additionally, Jason Bourne has a lot of knowledge and a lot of skill at combatives. In conclusion, the Jason Bourne franchise is a really good collection of movies. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in agent/thriller movies.
